I’m happy to report that eight people have registered for the (renamed) “McGilchrist Irregulars” event.

Please join our discussion, a few hours from now: Sunday 26 Feb – 10am Pacific time, 1pm Eastern, 6pm London (UTC).

    Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYlce-tqTspGNWq6vWZRYCty5SenIZFcMsB

I expect our early process will be to learn what each person is particularly interested in, and then to derive a method by which topics of common interest can be fruitfully discussed. I look forward to meeting you!

  • Hi! Thanks for this reference!

One great thing about Dr. McGilchrist’s philosophy is that it can be comprehended in a flash, right-hemisphere style. I think it’s interesting that Talbott has to *argue* — left hemisphere style — for not treating
organisms as machines. Once the difference has been pointed out, it
seems like it should be obvious.

But it’s not obvious to many people, and that’s our whole problem, isn’t it? The same sad dynamic applies to the widespread view that “humans are separate from nature,” a view characteristic of the left hemisphere apprehending the world in parts rather than as a continuous flow.

The consequence is that we (humanity) treat the entire world as a “machine,” with predicable, disastrous results!
