? Is this the place to post a poem? This one was written this morning. Finding time to read those posted by Craig… And finding the importance of both left and right holding and offering , many differing views…

    Near and Far

See that one grain in the sand on all that endless beach.
sometime winking, blinking a catch of reflected light,
resilient to the footfalls moving beyond above below.
rolled by the surf, waving ripple of retreating water
dunted by the bill of several sanderlings pecking past
or fast trauma in the delight of digging dog.

One grain, yet together we are a beach.
One drop, together makes an ocean.
One twig, how many stretch toward the light
and grow in company to make a tree?
Below the roots entwine nurturing the many
be they avenue or forest or lonely pine.

Whatever view I take I see I cannot doubt
the joy of being enters me.

I think it’s a lovely poem Elspeth. Thank you for sharing it.

Although you wrote it, I believe to have felt some of the possibly catalyst or cherished emotion that may’ve so compelled you to forge out the piece; perhaps the mark of job well done 👍

Thankfully it’s true that sometimes of the best parts of doing such literary work is the resonance of fond memories.
