I had entered all the first fridays in my calendar for the year; after the delightful first one, I missed some, traveling and so on. So I was anticipating this session, only to find nobody started the meeting.

I see it is scheduled for July 4; here in Vermont, that is a Thursday this time around…

My LH is chewing on this. And no doubt, on it’s arm or something. My RH is smiling with serenity…

    love

      Hi Peter,
That July 4th in @manuela‘s post is in the listing of dates for 2025.

      Dear Peter

Lovely that you respond. Thank you!

I hope you had a good time travelling and enjoyed the change in scenery.

I am sorry it didn’t work out this time. I have added the days in the previous post as well as the new zoom link again. This new zoom link is the one working – the old one isn’t working anymore, because I had to open up a new zoom-account [to say it in a ‘nutshell’].

I wish you a lovely month in Vermont – or lovely travels. See you!

      With kindness,

      Manuela

    Dear @Forest @chrys @janschloesser @bobeng

thank you 🙏 to you all for such a lively conversation on a First Friday at 6 pm CET [Amsterdam].

For the ones joining from ‘western-US’ [ie SFO/LA] it was 9 am in the morning

and for the ones joining from ‘eastern-US’ [ie NY] it was 12/noon.

Thank you for showing up, joining and creating a lively conversation. 🙏🏻

@Forest before you logged off on zoom, you made a sound, that I interpret and form the assumption that you might have wanted to copy & paste the links we shared in our chat. In case this assumption is ‘true’, I am sharing the links here: [note: you might need to copy & paste them to make them show up in ‘google’.]

Fascinating for me was how the ‘dialogue unfolded’ [David Bohm].

We started out with @Forest mentioning one of the art-restoration projects in a Russian church, working on ‘Ikons’ and how she experienced being there. @Forest, would you like to share the link of your website where some pictures of your work are displayed?

@chrys shared how to intentionally switch perceptions, i.e. covering ones left/right eye and observe how things change. For more, please see the 3rd link above. I shared in relation to my work that I experienced how one’s intention can/does determine what we are able ‘see’/perceive [and how we label/name ‘it’]

@janschloesser was sharing his work [his publication is the first link above] and how he was wondering ‘how to apply Iains’ work’. From there the conversation led to @bobeng sharing about the tibetan retreat he attended and how challenging it is to ‘work’ and ‘apply Iains’ work. We touched on the label ‘complicity’ and @Chrys rounded off with the inquiry into Jan’s work, because he was the first time ‘here’.

Jan’s comment: “I didn’t know what to expect. But this exceeded my expectations.” made me smile. Thank you for that, Jan.

@bobeng created a Whatsapp group that can serve us for example to have the day/time as well as the new zoom-link ready or ‘handy’.

@pbarus lovely that you were travelling (I hope all went well and you enjoyed that) and that you loged in on the 4th of July, the US-Independence day.

Just in case for others to make a note in their calendars too [in case they would love to attend in the future also – however this is no obligation, only an invitation to join ] here are our upcoming First Fridays:

I hope I have covered ‘everything’ – being aware when writing that that phrase also entails that I can not cover all that has been said and being looked at last Friday. So, if @Forest @chrys @janschloesser and @bobeng would like to add / change something for completion, – then feel free. 😊😅

I wish everyone who is reading this a lovely month and we see each other again on Friday, 2nd of August 2024 at 6 pm CET, 9am LA, 12/noon NY.

    Manuela

Something seems to be amiss with Channel McGilchrist. @manuela‘s last message in this discussion from two days ago is now missing. And the reply I thought that I posted, apparently never got posted.

    (Part 1of response)
Appreciation to @manuela and @bobeng for the conversation today. Being about to talk about humanity’s purpose (as a species and as individuals) with others (who aren’t automatically dismissive of the notion) was helpful. It allowed for a little exploration. I hope we can return to this theme in the future – if only to follow Manuela’s inspired seed planting.

On the question of whether the buffalo followed – or were the followers – I offer this short talk by Dr. Lyla June Johnston.

An excerpt: “Many people think that we followed the buffalo, when in fact the buffalo followed our fire. In this manner, we anthropogenically expanded buffalo habitat as far south as Louisiana and as far east as Pennsylvania.

      (Part 2 of response)

William Kentridge is the South African artist that I mentioned. He works with charcoal as a very fluid path to animation. Charcoal feels right, not only because of its malleability, but also for Kentridge’s themes relation to Apartheid. This video contains excerpts from one of Kentridge’s films.

      Dear Christina

Thank you very much for sharing this.

Goosebumps gave me when she said:

      „ … hope … our ancestors did it …“

( living in harmony with mother earth, protecting / providing / creating more habitat for all life, because we are a keystone species whose purpose is taking care of earth, we are stewards, for generations to come )

„… we can do it again…“

      Thank you 🙏🏻

I wish you good weeks and look forward to seeing you (all) again . 🍀

      With kindness

      Manuela

Hello everyone! Brand new to CM, tho not to McG, and looking forward to having help thinking about his work. Are the first Fridays Zoom meetings still happening?

    Cheers!
